Third Grade

This year the third graders will be studying subjects like the earth, Native Americans, states, electricity, inventions, countries around the world, insects and Michigan. The third grade class will also be reading many books, including The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Traders in Time, Nishnawbe and Shiloh. The third graders will be working on several projects and reports throughout the year, including a state project. They will also take many field trips, including Comstock Theater, the Nature Center, and the Michigan State Capitol and Museum. Every other year, the third and fourth graders take an overnight trip to Colonial Fort Michilimackinac.

Angela Kava

A third grade teacher, Angela Kava started at Kalamazoo Country Day School in 1993 as a teacher's aide. She earned her teaching degree from Western Michigan University in 1998. Mrs. Kava and her husband, Joe, live in Portage with their two children. Alexa and Dominic are both students at KCDS.
