Student Council 2012-2013

Doing Great Things at KCDS and in Our Community!

GOING ON NOW!

Movers for Moms Collection!

Starting on April 15, Student Council is holding a special collection of personal care items to support Movers For Moms, a local organization partnered with Two Men and a Truck.  For three weeks, KCDS will be asking for donations of shampoo, soap, lotion, toothpaste and all other personal care items.  There are boxes in the front lobby to place your contributions.  All items will be collected and delivered to women in need at local YWCA shelters in time for Mother's Day!

Thank you for supporing Movers for Moms and your Student Council!

Student Council would like to thank everyone who supported the American Heart Association during February's Fundraiser!

Let's work hard to have Healthy Hearts for LIFE!

Holiday Gift Collection

Thank you so very much for your generosity!  Student Council was able to take two car-loads of gifts to Family and Childrens' Services.  These gifts will be placed in a Holiday "Store" where families in need can "shop' for the perfect gift for their child.  You really helped make the holidays special for kids in our community.  Our contact at FCS said that without our amazing donation, the Christmas Store would have been virtually empty this year.  A sincere THANK YOU to you all.

Kalamazoo Country Day's Amazing Head of School responded enthusiastically to the students' decision that he should dress as GENE SIMMONS for Halloween!

Thanks, Mr. Edgerton, for making our school a FUN place to be and for supporting our students in their creative ideas!

Some members from Portage Central's Student Council recently came to spend time with us!  They talked about how to have an effective Student Council and we played some crazy and fun games to build our relationships with each other.

Thanks a lot, PCHS!

FUN FRIDAY!

October 12 was Mis-Match Day, sponsored by StuCo!  We had lots of fun and crazy and creative outfits running around the school.

Even some brave teachers participated!  Way to go, StuCo!

What does the Student Council DO?

Throughout the school year at weekly lunch meetings, officers and representatives brainstorm ideas for special events and activities.  Student Council is invovled in fundraising throughout the year and presents a gift to the school at Honors Assembly.  Student Council also maintains the Minute Maid machine, empties recycle bins, sponsors Middle School Dances, coordinates an all-school food drive in November and a holiday gift drive in December.

Have some great new ideas for KCDS?  Then be sure to tell a Student Council Representative so we can all help make a difference in our school and community!
