Student Council

At the beginning of each new school year, middle school students are given the chance to run for a position as officer in the student council. During the last week of September, election campaigns are held and posters are hung. On the day of the election, each candidate gives a speech to the assembled student body. After assembly, all students vote to determine the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Classrooms in grades 4–8 choose two representatives to attend meetings.

Regular Student council meetings will be held on Tuesdays during Lunch throughout the school year.

Throughout the school year at weekly lunch meetings, officers and representatives brainstorm ideas for special events and activities. Student Council is involved in fundraising throughout the year and presents a gift to the school at Honors Assembly. Student Council maintains the Minute Maid machine and sponsors Middle School dances. Service to community is another important component.

The Student Council coordinates an all-school food drive in November and a holiday gift drive in December, making sure our adopted families (one per classroom) have a better holiday season. Student Council members empty recycle bins throughout the school once a week after meetings.

Student Council sponsors Color DAy and other activities throughout the year.
