Kathy Willhite
I was born and raised in Ohio.
I worked at my hometown library (Wood County District Public Library) part-time from age 16 through high school and undergrad college (Bowling Green State University), where I received my Bachelor's of Education in Library and Education Media. I then worked full-time for nine months before attending Library School at Indiana University, where I received my Master's of Library Science. While at WCDPL I worked in all departments except Processing: Children's Room, Audio-Visual, Circulation, Reference, and Local History.
I worked for Porter County Library System in Portage, Indiana, as a children's librarian for one year.
I worked as the director of Vicksburg District Library for three and a half years. While there, I automated the library with federal grant monies. I planned and presented summer reading programs, story times, toddler times and other library programs for adults and children.
I worked as a Sunday substitute at Portage District Library for approximately three years at the reference desk.
I came to KCDS during the 1999–2000 school year.
I have been a member of the Ohio Library Association, Indiana Library Association, and the Michigan Library Association. I currently am a member of the American Library Association (20 years) and Michigan Association for Media in Education.
I am married to Bob Willhite, who works at Pfizer. I have three children. My son is a fifth grader and my twin daughters are in second grade. They attended KCDS for preschool and kindergarten.
I enjoy reading, quilting, and other crafts. My family likes to go golfing together at the course behind our house.
I enjoy traveling throughout the United States, admiring the vast differences of the land.
