My teaching career started in Virginia, upon graduating from Liberty University. After teaching in Virginia for 10 years, I had a desire to be closer to my family, which is what brought me back to Kalamazoo. In 1996 I started teaching at KCDS, where I have had the privilege of teaching creative and energetic fourth graders. In my spare time I enjoy finding creative new uses for old pieces of furniture by turning them into works of art. I am also involved in children's ministries with my husband, as a storyteller and magician. Shopping, gardening, and fishing are some of my favorite ways to relax.

In 1999 I was a recipient of the Excellence in Education grant. I traveled to Williamsburg and Jamestown, experiencing firsthand the buildings and artifacts of the era. Experiencing the Early American settlements by directly meeting with historians and participating in reenactments made it a truly unique opportunity. This experience has allowed me to enhance my fourth grade curriculum and make history come alive.
