Jeannie Grubaugh
I graduated from Hardin-Simmons University, a private school in Abilene, Texas, with a degree in elementary education. My post-graduate work was at Avila University in Kansas City, Mo. My husband, Dave, and I have two grown married sons and three grandchildren. Education runs in the family. Both of our sons are also teachers. Our older son, Nate, is Sixth Grade Dean at Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, Mich., and our younger son, Jason, teaches high school in Plainwell. Both sons also coach sports. Nate coaches swimming and Jason coaches tennis.
My previous teaching experience includes teaching in Bartlesville, Okla., and Grandview, Mo. While raising our children, I also taught as a substitute teacher and in private preschools where our children were students.
I really love preschoolers. The children are at such a special time in their education. Every day brings new opportunities for exploring and learning. I am always amazed by their capacity to grasp new concepts, learn academics and develop social interaction. I know they have fun learning every day, but I often feel that I may be the one enjoying it most!
When not teaching, I love spending time with the grandchildren and gardening. On winter nights you may find me reading or quilting.
