Leadership Elective
Welcome to the Leadership Elective!
WE DID IT!
The Leadership Elective ended the trimester at the Ministry with Community on Wednesday, February 29th. The students prepared and served an amazing meal to the Members of the Ministry. They worked hard and enjoyed the marvelous opportunity to get out into the community and lend a hand.

A BIG "thank you" to Craig Girolami and the staff at Park Club for all their generosity, patience, and enthusiasm as they helped our students prepare this wonderful meal! Also, thank you to Plainwell Ice Cream for the delicious donation of icecream to top the brownies!
Monday and Tuesday, we worked in Park Club's professional kitchen to prepare all the food:

Then, on Wednesday, we went to the Ministry with Community to finish preparing and serve the meal we made:

"Knowing I could make a difference in someone's day really made me feel good about myself. I hope I can continue to go back and keep serving the community."

"It felt really good to make all the food and then go and serve. I really liked knowing that I helped make the food the members were eating and that they liked it so much."

"I'm very glad that I got to be part of this experience. I am a much better person than I was at the start of Leadership Class and I hope to continue improving."

"There's something about helping others that gives me a sort of satisfaction in myself."

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater
The kids and adults had a blast at the new fun Leadership Teambuilding event: taking part in a light hearted Murder Mystery Dinner Theater production at Jaspare's Pizza. All students were given a character to play and throughout the event had to have conversations that eventually led to solving the murder of The Greatest Magician on Earth. Everyone worked together really well and impressed everyone with their acting skills!

We have been fundraising! All money earned is being used to purchase and prepare a meal that the group will serve at the Ministry with Community downtown Kalamazoo in February. This is an incredible opportunity for our young students to see how much it changes a person to reach out to those who are less fortunate.
Bake Sale
We raised $143 toward our goal with our Bake Sale! Thank you, KCDS, for your generous donations!

Satisfied customers!
Bottles + Cans
During January and February, we collected returnable bottles and cans as another fundraiser. Thank you so much for your generous donations! We returned two car loads of cans and earned $148!

Camp Copneconic Team Building
In January, the Leadership Elective took a field trip to Camp Copneconic for an overnight team building opportunity! The students and teachers had a wonderful time at this excellent camp. We learned more about ourselves, worked together in small groups, and solved (muddy) problems as a whole team. Scroll down to see many pictures of our wonderful experience!
