Bluebirds
The goal of the Bluebirds room is to get the children ready for kindergarten. On a daily basis, the students learn phonics, word families, have individual reading time, and listen to stories and/or chapter books. The students also learn the fundamentals of writing though journaling, writing words independently, and writing stories whole group. Bluebirds also learn identification of numbers and basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
Bluebirds learn through multiple approaches: whole group, small group, individually, through music, creative play, movement, art, and hands-on activities. Our classroom environment is always positive and we teach to the individual.
Bluebirds also attend Specials regularly: Computers (once weekly), Spanish (four times weekly), Library (once weekly), Gym (twice weekly), and Music (three times weekly).
