KCDS Auction

What is the Kalamazoo Country Day School Annual Auction?

Answer: This is one of the 2 major KCDS fundraisers whose proceeds are used to help support and improve your child’s (children’s) school!

We hold 2 auctions in the spring. One is off-site, and the other is here at the school. Below are brief descriptions of each event.

1) Dinner, Live Auction, and Silent Auction. Generally held on a Saturday evening, this is a casual, fun event for adults! Silent bidding occurs throughout the evening, but the highlight is the live auction! Items in the past have included trips to resorts, specialty dinners, jewelry, leather coats, Big Ten University tickets, autographed sports apparel, and more. This is a fantastic evening to spend with fellow KCDS parents and teachers.

2) Silent Auction held at KCDS in the Gym: Also called the “School Auction”, this event opens during the week of the Spring Concert. The auction boards in the gym will be full of items for you, your friends, and your family members to silently bid on for three days! Items to bid on include a variety of toys, decorations, crafts, dinners, tickets to events, memberships to gyms and clubs, numerous gift certificates, and much more. Classrooms generally gather and create a group project which is auctioned at a live auction, prior to each of the concert performances. Additional items, including parking spaces and reserved seating are also auctioned at this time.

How do these events benefit your children?

Answer: Every year the money raised goes to the areas needing the most assistance for improvement. In the past we have purchased new computers, updated our computer software, purchased new library tables and shelves, and acquired new equipment for our science lab, physical education programs, and playgrounds. Several classrooms were updated with new carpet, sinks, and counter tops this year. Our parking lot was re-surfaced and striped, and the soft-fill mulch on each playground was provided. Additionally, we invest a portion of the proceeds into a mutual fund for future needs.

How can YOU help?

Answer: Get involved by donating your time and talents to serve on an organizational committee! Anyone may donate items or services to our auction, and many people are needed to solicit donations from local businesses.

If you are interested in assisting with either of the auctions, please call Kristin Kite in the Auction Office, at 329-0116, ext. 224, or contact by e-mail: kkite@kalamazoocountryday.org.
